What is the Law of Attraction...Really...

The Law of Attraction (LOA) is often simplified as merely visualizing a desired outcome and waiting for it to manifest. While positive thinking and visualization are crucial components, they alone won’t create real change. The true power of the Law of Attraction lies in aligning both your thoughts and actions—a principle echoed in ancient wisdom like the Kybalion and modern theories like the concept of "intention" and "attention."

The Kybalion, rooted in Hermetic philosophy, introduces the idea that everything in the universe is governed by mentalism. This principle suggests that the universe responds to your mental energy, but it also emphasizes that conscious effort and discipline are needed to bring thoughts into reality. It’s not enough to simply daydream about success; you must intentionally direct your focus and engage in the necessary actions to align with your vision.

"The possession of Knowledge, unless accompanied by a manifestation and expression in Action, is like the hoarding of precious metals-a vain and foolish thing. Knowledge, like wealth, is intended for Use. The Law of Use is Universal, and he who violates it suffers by reason of his conflict with natural forces." -- The Kybalion

This is where the theory of "intention" and "attention" comes in. Intention is the vision—the clear mental image of what you want. It’s your focused desire, the blueprint for what you aim to achieve. Attention, on the other hand, is where the work begins. It’s the consistent effort, habits, and behaviors that support your intention. Without attention, intention remains a fantasy. The magic happens when both are harmonized: when you hold a clear vision and back it up with aligned, persistent actions.

One common mistake when applying the Law of Attraction is getting caught up in "magical thinking," which is the notion that merely envisioning success will make it materialize. While visualization can help shape your mindset, it's just the initial phase. It's essential to take concrete actions, confront obstacles, and evolve through effort. For example, if your goal is to attract a travel destination, is it sufficient to display a picture of it on your wall? This is merely the first step in a series of actions. Once you have defined your intention (there are a few more components to complete the Intention process), you must then devise an action plan to materialize or bring your intention into reality. In essence, you must take action, only then will your vision become achievable.

In essence, the Law of Attraction “really” works when you engage both intention and attention. Imagine your desired outcome with clarity, but then channel your energy into daily actions that align with that vision. True manifestation isn’t just about thinking; it’s about thinking, planning, and consistently working toward your goal. By the way, make it a fun process that add even more to the desired outcome!
